The short version
  • Around 360 km of pistes span three areas and cross the border into Cervinia, Italy.
  • Glacier skiing runs all year at Matterhorn Glacier Paradise; the valley season runs roughly November to April.
  • Beginners start at Sunnegga and Wolli Park; the upper glacier suits confident skiers and summer turns.
  • Lift, piste and crossing status all change with the wind — read the official board before buying a pass.

How Zermatt skiing fits together

Three sectors climb out of the village — Sunnegga-Rothorn to the east, Gornergrat in the middle, and the Matterhorn side via Furi and Schwarzsee up to Glacier Paradise — and the upper lifts link into Cervinia on the Italian flank. It is a big, high, snow-sure area, but a windy day can shut the top, so plan with the lift status open.
